‘Wildwood’ and a Holmes documentary may test whether format decides the audience

Laika’s first PG-13 film, “Wildwood,” was set to open Friday, Oct. 23, and the industry is watching whether a darker animated film can find an audience, the Los Angeles Times reported. A24’s Elizabeth Holmes documentary “You Can See Everything” opened to $15.6 million in limited release, the largest launch for a nonmusical documentary in 20 years, Variety said, and 62% of its opening audience was 18 to 34, Deadline said. Together, they may test whether format decides the audience.
