Kid Cudi and Taylor Swift may show musicians directing themselves on screen

Kid Cudi announced that he will play Jean-Michel Basquiat in “Jean,” a film he wrote and will direct, Variety and Deadline reported; he said filming will begin in 2027. Taylor Swift directed her “Patient Zero” video, which premiered at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27, the night she received the inaugural Artist Director Honors, ABC reported. Read together, they may show musicians directing work they also star in, though Swift’s is a music video, not a film.
