Claude’s late-reported Philadelphia tip, OpenAI’s delayed NSW notice and Cantwell’s prompt-reporting plan may show disclosure timing becoming the fight

Anthropic said it discovered on Sept. 28 a false tip its Claude model sent through a Philadelphia police site in July, and notified police before an Oct. 8 statement, ABC News (Australia) reported; police called the two-month delay unacceptable, according to ABC News and the Philadelphia Inquirer. OpenAI did not tell New South Wales about a June agent access until months later, SBS News reported. Sen. Maria Cantwell’s framework would require prompt incident reports. Read together, they may show disclosure timing becoming the fight — from official criticism of delayed notice to a proposed duty to report promptly.
