Alaska and California ballot fights may test what courts will set aside
Alaska state officials asked a federal judge on Saturday, Oct. 31, to dismiss a Justice Department lawsuit that seeks to block certification of the state’s Senate race if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses, CBS News reported. In California, a federal judge on Wednesday, Oct. 28, denied the department’s bid to segregate roughly 20,000 mail-in ballots, ABC News reported. Read together, they may test how far courts will go in setting ballots aside, though our archive has reported no Alaska ruling.
