A Game 2 pitching rematch may have framed the White Sox–Guardians ALDS

On Oct. 5, Sean Burke allowed one hit over 5⅓ innings of relief as the White Sox beat Cleveland 4-3 for a 2-0 ALDS lead, while Gavin Williams struck out 11 for the Guardians. After Cleveland won Games 3 and 4 in Chicago, the two were listed as the probable Game 5 starters, and on Oct. 10 Williams struck out 12 in a 2-0 Cleveland win. Read together, the series may have been framed by one pitching matchup.
